The Lego Movie’s “lego” is no more, as the toy maker announced Thursday that the movie-themed toy brand is ending its licensing agreement with the movie studio behind the blockbuster.
The announcement comes amid a shakeup of the Lego brand and creative development for its iconic bricks, including a move from the American Apparel to the Chinese company that makes the bricks.
The deal was announced last week.
The Lego company is also working on a new product called the Millennium Falcon.
“Lego has a long history of creating creative content for children,” Lego spokeswoman Stephanie K. LeClerc said in a statement.
“We are proud to be a key part of the LEGO family and look forward to continuing to do so in the future.”
