The Associated Press reported on Monday that Texas Highway Construction Company plans to construct a new highway crossing the San Jacinto River at the intersection of the Trinity River and the Trinity.
The company says the bridge would be constructed by 2019.
The bridge would have an overall length of 13.4 miles and be the first bridge constructed under the new Texas Rivers and River System Act.
Construction is scheduled to begin this fall and will be completed by 2020.
The project will be funded through the Texas Rivers Conservation Trust Fund.
A spokesman for the state Department of Transportation said the agency was not aware of the plans and had no further comment.
